International Curriculum ClassVR Icons

Selected examples of icons for use in the ClassVR portal for curriculum from around the world, that were developed to broaden the range of available resources to international subscribers to the ClassVR platform.

As with the existing ClassVR subject icons, these were designed to be principally utilised on the subject tabs on the ClassVR portal and then also used across subject specific lesson plans and other related printed media at a variety of sizes. Legibility was a hugely important consideration in the designs given the display size of the icons in the online ClassVR portal itself, with an emphasis on maintaining clarity of the design at a smaller size on the subject tabs in the portal whilst looking distinctive enough from similar subject icons, or icons from the same section or topic of the portal.

The look of the icons themselves were designed in keeping with existing designs in the library to maintain a visual consistency, and were created using combinations of elements from existing icons, and those that were new creations or sourced from stock libraries.

As some of the resources were aimed at different ages and levels, this gave an opportunity to bring in design elements to reflect this, such as age range bubbles, backgrounds that got lighter/darker as you moved up through the age range or in the example of English icon, the illustrated writing style becomes more clearer/legible as you progress through the age ranges.
